01.09.12 = Darn socks A show of hands, how many of you would find it easier or quicker to go buy new socks as opposed to sewing up the holes in the old ones? Come on admit it, you know you would. Okay, I’ll admit it. But, this weekend, my favorite little Scotty dog socks, wore a hole in the toe. I love those little socks. Not only are they cute, the right color for jeans but, they are the right thickness for several of my favorite shoes. Knowing that I would never be able to find pair as perfect as they are again, I broke out the needle and thread and stitched them up. Believe it or not, I had the right color thread already in my sewing box, that I had to dig out from the depths of my closet. In just a matter of minutes, I was done. Well, that was easy. So easy in fact, I went through my entire sock drawer and spent less than an hour darning socks. Why had I put this off so long? And why would I think that it was easier to buy new? Hmmm, something to think about. “Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without.” American Proverb.
