02.04.13 = A Gem This is the beautiful metal cut-work that covers the windows at street level on the Cincinnati Bell building. I find it amazing that the inlaid stones are still intact after all these years. But like a gem, they stand the test of time. Beautiful to look at, but it's what your made of that matters. 02.03.14 = Hello I finally got downtown to shoot the Cincinnati Bell building on Saturday. (Thank you Mark for going with me!) I'm in love with the architecture and details of this building. (More to come this week.) This was the most popular and most modern telephone models of the day when this building was built in 1930. My how things have changed. 02.05.14 = Tools of the Trade More architectural details from the Cincinnati Bell building; the wire cutters relief. If you notice, behind the wire cutters is the top of a telephone pole. I just love all these little details. It's those little details that make things just a little more special. It's funny, when I was shooting this from across the street from the building, a guy was walking by and was wondering what I was doing. He said he walks by there every day and had never noticed the little details. He said he was going to have to start looking up more often. I think that's a great idea. Color, color, color, and everywhere color. I even toned the color down on this one a bit so I wouldn’t burn my eyes looking at the computer screen. Only a photograph can really capture the amazing color and beauty of this display. I can’t imagine being a painter and trying to re-create this scene on canvas.
