03.28.12 = Hope
This photo is a re-post for my friend Barb. I originally posted this photo back in 2010; she saw my post and sent me a note asking if she could purchase it as a gift for her sister. It seems that her sister had been diagnosed with lung cancer and this photo somehow spoke to her. I was extremely honored and humbled by the request. You see, I know first-hand just how special sisters are and the thought of one of them going through this, well… I don’t think I could be as brave or as strong as Barb. She also asked if I could put one of my quotes at the bottom as well. After a few suggestions, she settled on one I wrote just for her and this photo; even more humbling. I’m sorry to say that Barb lost her sister this past weekend. I sent her a note with my sympathies and you know what she wrote back. “Every time I walk into my sister’s room and see your photo I think of you.” That’s funny because, every time I see this photo, I think of her and her sister and all the things they have done to shine a light on this terrible disease. They say that everything in life happens for a reason. I see and now understand the reason that God put in that place at that specific time to capture that sky. I see and understand why Barb liked that image. But I don’t see and understand how a sister, wife and mother, who never smoked, was taken with far too much life left. Maybe someday I will understand, I guess we all need to keep Hope alive.
