2011 the daily post - photo journal
I've named this gallery "The Daily Post" but I can't promise that I will post every day. This gallery is more of a journal of what's going on in my little section of this world we all share. Some days the photo may be better than the commentary and others, the commentary is much better than the photo. It's just a way to combine two of my favorite things, photography and speaking my mind. Here's to 2011! Kris :D

on October 27, 2011Kris I just picked up on your question about lenses. I only have two lenses, the bog standard 18-55 and 55-200mm zooms that came with my Nikon, most night shots are taken with the 18-55. In fact most are taken at 18mm as the wider the lens the easier it is to hand hold at slow shutter speeds. 1/8th is pretty easy with support at 18mm, but totally impossible at 200mm without a very rigid tripod. If I had the cash I'd upgrade, definitely get a 50mm prime for portraits and some longer zooms, but I've always been pleased with how they perform. I've lost count how often my 55-200 has been mistaken for a dedicated macro lens, in fact I have a little chuckle every time someone says "great macro".
