10.21.10 = Burning Leaves
Last evening on my way home, there was a wonderful chill in the air and that great smell of Fall was lingering. I opened my sunroof and cracked a few windows to fill the car with that amazing air. Did I mention there was a chill in the air? Rather than close the windows, I turned on the heat and my heated seat to stop from shivering. I’m so glad I did, because just then it hit me; that amazing smell of burning leaves! If that’s not Fall, I don’t know what is. I love that smell and I love those guys who burn the leaves. Growing up in the burbs, we didn’t burn the leaves. I’m sure there was some major fire code in Montgomery against that. We just had to rake and bag them. But there was always that smell just faintly lingering on a little breeze. I said a little prayer and thanked God for the guys who burn their leaves. If you happen to be one of those guys who burn the leaves, THANK YOU! Keep it up, you make fall wonderful!

We have had our summer evenings, now for October eves!” Humbert Wolfe

on October 21, 2010That's a smell that brings back memories. We have a burn band around here because of the lack of rain over the last 2 months. It is also not legal to burn inside the city limits so I would love to smell that again. Nice comp on the photo.
