10.06.10 = Lost marbles
Marbles, jacks, the hula hoop, don’t you remember when childhood games were simple? Now they are all killing video games with wild animation and noisy sound effects. Jeez, I’m starting to sound old! The closest game I ever played that lit up and had sound effects was the game “Operation” and it wasn’t even ours, it was one of the neighbor kids game. The things I remember playing as a kid were all made up games and “make-believe” games. We played school, house or store. Mom would give us some empty cans and boxes and we would set up a store and have play money, or use marbles as money. We played office. My dad would give us old 3 part forms with the carbon in the middle and old letterhead paper. I even remember him giving us those old 3M punch cards. As we got older we played flashlight tag outside and ding dong ditch. We even played a great game using the lines in the street. Good times and great memories.
