2013 the daily post - photo journal
08.12.13 = The Future of The Daily Post
Hello fellow Smug Muggers.
With all the new changes that Smug is unveiling, I'm sure you've heard by now that communities will no longer be supported. It's a shame really, because since 2008, I've been a member of several communities and met so many wonderful photographers over the years. I never would have met any of you and shared our passion for photography if it weren't for the communities. All the little tips and tricks I've learned from all of you over the years, has really pushed me and my desire to become a better photographer. All the wonderful comments, encouraged me to do my first art show several years ago and sell my first pieces. I feel I've really grown not only as an artist but as person as well.
When you see the images and read the commentaries of others on a daily basis, you really get a sense of their life and who they are as a person. We've learned of deaths and illness, happy reunions and joyous events all through the self expression and the power of an image. I appreciate you opening and sharing your life's with me. Seeing other photographers work daily, has really helped to open my own eyes to new horizons and perspectives. For that, I am truly grateful.
As we all begin to switch over to the New Smug Mug, this community will dwindle and soon become obsolete. I would like to stay in touch with all of you and continue our photo sharing. Some of you may know Jennifer DiFranco, another very talented photographer, she started a group in Facebook called "The Photographer's Weekly". There you can share your photo's in an album or a link to your site, and stay in touch with fellow smuggers. I encourage you to join the group. If you have a FB page, please send me a link or like mine at k dunlap photography and leave me a note.
I hope that SmugMug will support communities in the future with the New Smug, but until then, let's try to stay in touch and continue our daily posts.
Best to you all,
Kristan

on August 12, 2013Hi Kris, further to my reply in Facebook, I'm trying to hang fire on this at the moment, hoping that Smug will fix the bugs. I'm loathe to start posting a Daily elsewhere at the moment. I'm struggling to participate fully in the 2 Smug daily communities, let alone another couple or more on Facebook. Having said that, FB has been crucial in helping us keep communicating over this debacle, and I'll stay active there whatever happens
