09.26.13 = Indian Summer "Just after the death of the flowers, And before they are buried in snow, There comes a festival season, When nature is all aglow- Aglow with a mystical splendor That rivals the brightness of spring, Aglow with a beauty more tender Than aught which fair summer could bring. ~Emeline B. Smith, "Indian Summer"
Color Inspiration “How beautifully leaves grow old. How full of light and color are their last days.” John Burroughs.
10.13.10 = Fall color This time of year the color changes with every hour. Some flowers are dying out while others are coming out. The leaves on the trees are changing so quickly. I drove past a grove of trees on Monday with beautiful color. I went back yesterday late afternoon to shoot it; it was gone. They already had their moment in the sun. “While beauty is fleeting; character is building”
07.19.09 = Sorry I have been MIA for a few days, I've just had a lot going on. This past weekend was amazing here in Ohio. We had temperatures in low 70's during the day and low 60's to upper 50's at night! Blue skies and light breezes rounded out the days. Hope you all had a nice weekend as well. This big bee was really busy working the flowers in my sisters garden. She has become quite the "urban gardner." "Kind hearts are the garden; Kind thoughts are the roots; Kind words are the flowers; Kind deeds are the fruits. Take care of your garden and keep out the weeds; Fill it with sunshine, kind words and kind deeds." Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
04.12.09 = Aaaahhhhhh, a dogs life! Lucy taking a nap. See the others in the series. Hope everyone had a happy Easter. http://kdunlap.smugmug.com/gallery/7509927_ef5uF/1/511055494_tewcH

07.26.09 = "Urban Gardener" My sister has some volunteer pumpkins growing in her garden. Yesterday, I met up with my some of our fellow Smuggers in Cleveland. What a great time we had! Thank you once again Carole for organizing everything. It was about a 3 1/2 hour drive for me, so I haven't had time to upload any photo's from the day. More post's to come.
09.24.10 = Fresh The best tomato’s are the ones grown by your sister! Have a great weekend everyone!
10.18.10 = Vine Ripe It’s not easy growing up. It’s tough on kids/teens/young adults, but I think it’s equally tough on the parents and knowing when to let go. Telling themselves that they CAN’T always make everything right. Life is difficult and it is through those difficulties that we grow and really learn about ourselves. It builds our character and the next level of our experiences and in turn, prepares us to deal with our next challenge. Vine ripe, time to let go. “A bend in the road is not the end of the road….unless you fail to make the turn.” Unknown
05.18.11 = Photosynthesis I NEED SUNSHINE! That’s all I’m going to say today. “Sometimes you get what you want and sometimes you don’t. I try not to think of the things that I wanted and didn’t get but rather, the things I didn’t get that I don’t want.” Kristan Dunlap
10.23.12 = Knowledge and Wisdom “Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is fruit. Wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad.” Unknown, but it sounds like something a Dunlap would say.
10.24.12 = Oh Mary! “If life hands you lemons, make lemonade; if life hands you tomatoes, make Bloody Mary’s!” Unknown, but I know this is something a Dunlap has said.
11.13.12. = Fences “Don’t ever take a fence down until you know why it was put up.” Robert Frost
9.16.13 = Vine to Plate "One of the most delightful things about a garden is the anticipation it provides." W. E. Johns
11.18.13 = Final Fall Colors "Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it." Confucius
Hydrangea Love
10.12.14 = Hydrangea Love Who doesn’t love hydrangeas? With their woody steams and lacey flowers all huddled together in various colors and hues. I find their color and depth of soft texture fascinating. Each one so distinct. Enjoy the love of the season while you can.
