10.13.10 = Fall color This time of year the color changes with every hour. Some flowers are dying out while others are coming out. The leaves on the trees are changing so quickly. I drove past a grove of trees on Monday with beautiful color. I went back yesterday late afternoon to shoot it; it was gone. They already had their moment in the sun. “While beauty is fleeting; character is building”
10.05.10 = A sisterhood I tried posting this photo yesterday, but I kept hitting a wall with what I wanted to say. I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph a sorority and their bid day this past weekend. For those of you not familiar with the Greek system, that’s the day they get all their new pledges. All these wonderful, bright young women coming together in an important chapter of their life. Bonding together in a sisterhood of lifelong friendships. They used 1,000 pink roses to decorate their entire house. It was really beautiful. All the time and the commitment that these girls put into this, really made me think. It made me think of a dear friend of mine who is battling breast cancer. She and I spoke on the phone just last week and caught up on a few years of each other’s lives. I realized just how special those deep friendships and bonds that we make are. They’re important to us then and they’re just as important to us as we go through life. Those deep bonds of friendship or sisterhood that we make may lay dormant for a few years but know, just know, that they never really go away, ever. “True friends are hard to find, difficult to leave and impossible to forget.” G.
