01.29.15 = Gottcha'! This little Downy Woodpecker has been hanging around the bird feeder the past few weeks. It seems every time I ran and grabbed my camera, he took off. Almost like he knew I had a camera. Well, I finally go him. He's a quick little guy, so I'm glad I got one in focus through a rainy window. I love the little tiny water droplet on his head. Window Observations

01.14.15 = Perseverance For those of you who feed and observe the birds, you know how persistent the little chickadee can be. One seed at a time, they grab one, fly to a tree limb, crack it open, eat it and then begin the whole process over again. And when the feeder is empty, they are the first to let you know with their persistent call. You have to admire their tenacity and perseverance. "The race is not always to the swift, but those who keep on running." Unknown

Window Oberservations

01.08.15 = Defense With his food supply quickly disappearing, Mr. Robin is becoming much more aggressive in protecting his turf. Yesterday, a dreaded gang Starlings showed up and began stripping his tree of it's remaining berries. He chased them around the tree one at a time from branch to branch. It was exhausting just watching him. I put some more seed out for the Chickadee's and Cardinal's with hopes of distracting the Starlings a bit. It worked however, Mr. Robin was determined to run the Starling gang off no matter what they feeding on. He finally got some relief when Mr. Cardinal and a pair of Blue Jays showed up to assist in the banishment of this transient gang. I will keep you apprised of any new developments in this on-going battle for berries turf war. "The harder you work, the harder it is to lose." unknown

Out On A Limb

01.03.15 = Out On A Limb Between Mr. Squirrel, Mrs. Robin and the Cardinal Family, the berries on my tree are quickly disappearing, however, there are still many to be had out on the small, twiggy limbs closest to my window. I was quite entertained and impressed with high acrobatic stunts preformed by Mr. Squirrel to reach his breakfast. I think I may have to do some window cleaning before the second act. "You've got to go out on a limb sometimes because that's where the fruit is." Will Rogers

10.26.14 = Up-Close with Bambi I was out on a walk with Gracie yesterday and we came across Bambi here. I have to say, he was not afraid of us at all, and Gracie; she was whimpering and wagging her tail, I think she wanted to play with him. He continued to eat on the grass, Gracie lay down and I got off several shots in focus! I really think that if I had corn and held it out for him, he would of come over and eaten out of my hand. He was only about 20' to 30' away from us. It was only when I went to put my camera away and Gracie moved suddenly that he disappeared back into the woods. "If you're going to shoot something, use a camera; Cannon is my weapon of choice!"

04.02.12 = Who Knew? I spent a great day on Friday with my friend Mark on a causal shoot at the Cincinnati Zoo. Its tulip season at the Zoo and I’ve wanted to get out there to shoot them for several years now, but I kept missing the prime season. So I finally got that checked off my bucket list. (Tulip photo’s begin tomorrow) With the threat of rain all morning, who knew it would turn out to be such a beautiful day. The tulips and all the colors were just so amazing; who knew one of my favorite shots of the day would be in a very dark room, through a large glass window of a very large brown eagle owl. “You can’t plan for the unexpected but you should always expect it.
